Your resume is your first impression on the person looking to fill a position. Not only does it need to include all your relevant education, experience and skills, but it also needs to have all that information formatted in a clear and professional manner. 2) Solid References

While not every hiring manager places the same amount of emphasis on feedback from references, a poor or weak reference can definitely have a negative impact on your chances of getting the job you want. Furthermore, inaccurate or outdated contact information for your references won’t help you either as, generally speaking, hiring managers won’t go through the trouble of reaching out for the right information.

Take the time to get in touch with your references if you haven’t spoken to them in a while. Make sure they are still able to give you a solid reference and inquire about any alterations in their contact information.

3) Great Interviewing Skills

If your resume and references are all in order and are good enough to merit an invitation to interview for a job, you need to make sure that your interviewing skills are up to the challenge. This is particularly helpful if you tend to get nervous and flustered in interviews. You should also come prepared with questions of your own as this helps to show your interest and eagerness to be considered.

It can be nerve-wracking having to talk yourself up to a potential employer, especially when you have been job hunting for some time without success. Nevertheless, every strong job candidate will have confidence in their abilities. If you know that you are proficient in a certain skill, say so. While you don’t want to come off as arrogant, you can still state the facts about yourself that make you qualified for a job.
